"new" music please

ive been delving into some older music lately. some ive had and listened to since they were popular (rancid), some that ive slowly rediscovered their utter brilliance (pixies, RATM), and some that i feel like ive missed out on almost completely and should really educate myself (joan jett, the clash, madness) and im realizing that ive probably missed out on a lot of great music as a kid, due to many factors including having 1st gen parents, being stationed in a foreign country for 6 years of my childhood, and just being a kid totally oblivious to music in general. so im looking to you all for some help in this department. im looking for great rock bands/albums/songs of the 80s and 90s. im talking true RAWK! - not pop. i got a crash course in 80s pop in college, so i think im good there. so show me what youve got.
