now this is awkward...
last night reminded me of a funny story:
so i went to the launch party for West 32nd, a film debuting at the tribeca film festival. the film being an asian american film, the party was, by no surprise, attended by predominately asians/asian americans. i noted to my friend that i probably hadnt been around so many asian people since my last trip to korea three years ago, which i thought felt kind of weird... but me feeling that way could be thought of as weird, since im asian, but thats a whole other story. anyway, this is all context for the following story...
a few years back when m lived in philly, braincube and i went to visit (tangent: which is when, if i remember correctly, we recorded these tracks) while we were there, we stopped by a party that one of m's friends was having at her house. at one point during the party, m and braincube made a crack about me being the only non-white person there, and asked if that made me uncomfortable. i told them that it didnt, but what i did find kind of funny was that the three of us were the only non-abercrombie-esque people there. m, braincube, and i are definitely more of the vans skaters shoes, worn jeans, tshirt and hoodie type of people (in fact, m and braincube more so than me) whereas everyone else looked like they bought everything they were wearing out of an a&f catalog - nice polo shirt (some dbags wearing the collar up), expensive jeans/khakis, perfectly groomed hair, and an OD of cologne. so as soon as i said that, i could tell that both of them started to get weirded out themselves. i think we spent the rest of the night just socializing with ourselves. good times...
