RANT: airline announcements
how about instead of making the flight attendants repeat the safety requirements at the beginning of each flight, just have all passengers read and sign a form stating that they understand all of the safety instructions associated with the aircraft? this can be done once, when everyone turns 18. just have a booklet of all the different aircrafts and the slightly different instructions for each listed. we'd never have to hear the step-by-step instructions of using the intricate tool they call 'seat belt' ever again.
and lets also keep the pilot from speaking unless absolutely necessary. i dont care what the weather is like in new york when i'm trying to get some sleep, especially since the weather occasionally changes over the course of 5 hours, or so i've heard. now, when we actually do get to new york, that information would definitely be useful. i dont care what state we're over or what you can see if you look out the window. im in the aisle seat, and i doubt the two strangers sitting between me and the window would appreciate it if i just leaned over them to check out what you are talking about.
on a side note: i know that its pretty easy to complain about the whole airline thing, pilots, flight attendants, etc. but on the flip side, i think we should allow flight attendants to back-hand anyone who doesnt listen to them. when the jackass with the headphones on, using his laptop on the tray still has his seat leaned all the way back, even though the pilot has stated that we are landing, i think flight attendants should, without fear of consequence, be able to just slap the shit out of the asshole, take away his toys, and treat him like the child he is. oh, and i would like to be present to witness. that would be awesome.
