just like old times

so this past weekend was my college 5 year reunion. for those who were not part of my college experience, or was just too lazy to get your asses up there, here's what went down:

friday night: roll into town about 830ish... found the apt we rented for the weekend, which couldnt have been in a darker or obscure part of collegetown, but hey at least it had a roof and a bathroom, thats all we needed. walk down to college ave and hit up some vietnam for dinner (wu would go back at least 2 or 3 more times... that girl is an addict!) and then went to dino's. the night was filled with pitchers and darts, just like an average weekday senior year, of course, with the btms showing up and joining the party. then apparently the mob at the palms decided that since dino's was air conditioned, they would ALL come, turning the bar into a disgusting sweatfest. fp and i grab a case and head up the apt, while the rest of the crew try for north for some free hot truck.

saturday: started off the day at ctb, where i discovered the awesomeness of the peanut butter and bananas on a toasted bagel. i think i have found a new 'usual' with respect to bagels! checked out the revamped engineering quad, which is more like a semicircle now with duffield hall cramping things, but damn, what a building! makes you almost forget how ugly upson, hollister, and phillips are... but then you remember again... went down to wegmans for some snacks to take to taughanock, spent the rest of the day vegging out getting some sun by cayuga lake, running into people that i forgot i knew. dinner at the nines, where we got some corn nuggets (i know, thats usually at the chariot, but the chariot is no longer... *sniff*) headed down to dunbars, and its exactly as disgusting as i remember.

sunday: most people headed back to their homes on sunday, although we figured we needed more time to do all the things we wanted to do while we were still in town. breakfast at ctb, then spent most of the day walking around campus, which was really weird... it almost felt like how it did when i went for the first time, but this time everything was vaguely familiar. i couldnt quite put my finger on it, but it was definitely strange, especially with all of the new buildings on campus. went down to the commons for some townie sightings, and some souvenirs. then it was back to collegetown for dinner, where lytri and i had the best idea: ghetto collegetown tapas for dinner, i.e. appetizers from our favorite restaurants. this included garlic knots from mama t's, hummus and pitas from aladdin's, and more corn nuggets. went up to the balcony of lyt, m, and my old apartment to have dinner and watch the sun set. lyt had to go to the bathroom, so naturally snuck into our old apartment, only to find it was not completely vacated yet (no one was home, but unlike the room he snuck in through, the rest of the apt was not empty) then headed up to good old pyramid mall to catch 'knocked up' which was good, but a lot more drama-centered than i expected. and back to dinos for some low key drinks w/the roommates. who knew just the four of us hanging out would result in lyt getting drunk off his ass (i talking eyes-no-longer-looking-in-the-same-direction drunk) and me having to be the dd and drive us back. possibly the greatest part of the night: delivery from dp dough!

monday: ctb for breakfast, of course. another trip around campus, ended up in the fall creek gorge on a perfect day. (of the times ive gone down there i cant remember seeing more than say 20-30 people there, which made me wonder what portion of the cornell population actually got to experience this awesome tradition...) anyway, we wrapped up the day with some hot truck and finally it was time for the long trip home...

all in all, the trip was exactly what i had hoped it would be. the only thing that was really missing was traying down libe - which cant really be done during the summer... or can it?... (<- famous last words, perhaps)

I'm glad I got to experience the gorge. Remember the inflatable shark? I think I might have pictures. And I think you might have pink hair.
